Can Jasper AI be detected?
I read somewhere online that Jasper.ai creates the least AI detectible content of all AI writers, so naturally, I was curious to test it out for myself.
So, I conducted a case study.
Setup
In this case study, I generated 10 random blog posts across 10 different niches using Jasper’s “One-shot Blog Post” template. This template is perfect for this case study for three reasons:
- It requires minimum human intervention, so there is no chance of “accidentally tainting” the experiment. Just straight up give the input and grab the output.
- This template gives the longest output (around 600 words) in one click among all Jasper templates. The longer the text you feed AI detectors, the better they tend to work.
- And, of course, this template is handmade for blogging, where AI detection is of utmost concern.
To generate 10 random blog post ideas across 10 different niches, I turned to ChatGPT—

After generating these 10 blog posts, I put them through Originality.ai, a paid AI detector tool widely regarded as one of the most accurate and rigorous in the industry.
It assigns a confidence score between 0 to 100 to the input text. A score of 90% AI means that Originality AI is about 90% sure that the piece of text was written by an AI program such as Jasper or ChatGPT.
It is worth noting that Originality AI has been (so far) trained on 10 language models including some of the famous ones such as GPT-3, GPT-3.5, GPT-4, GPT-2, and GPT-J.
So, any piece of text churned out by any language model other than these 10 will bypass AI detection. That’s how these things work.
Although, people behind Originality AI claim that they are constantly working on expanding their tool’s arsenal.
Outputs and Results

I took all the blog posts written by Jasper and pasted them in Originality one by one to test for AI traces. This was the result:
Almost every blog post is flagged as 100% AI by Originality.ai.
Well, this isn’t unexpected because Originality uses the same technology for detecting AI content that Jasper is using to produce it.
I then wondered if using a paraphraser such as Quillbot will flummox Originality AI or not. So, I ran all these outputs through Quillbot and tested them once again through Originality’s AI detector.
Can Jasper + Quillbot Produce Undetectable Content?
Quillbot is a highly popular paraphrasing tool that people sometimes use to scramble the words of AI-written content so that it is not caught by AI detector tools such as Originality.ai.
Here’s how it works:
You feed it input to the left, select a mode from the top bar and you get the paraphrased version to the right.
You also get a “synonyms slider” which lets you regulate how distant you want your output to be from the original content.
Level 0 of the slider changes only a few synonyms here and there, whereas Level 3 will change them a lot, so much so that the original meaning of the text is sometimes affected.
For our purpose, I kept the synonyms level at 1 and chose the ‘fluency‘ mode so that the resulting text flows smoothly and doesn’t sound robotic.
Here are the AI detection results before and after paraphrasing by Quillbot:
As can be seen in the table above, Using Quillbot made no difference. Originality AI still detects all the paraphrased versions, with surprising accuracy.
What surprised me the most was the results of the 6th blog post: “Mastering the Art of Budgeting“. Using Quillbot on it actually pushed the AI score up, instead of bringing it down.

Can Google detect Jasper AI’s content?
If a tiny, fledgling tool like Originality.ai can detect Jasper AI, Google certainly can.
However, that doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing. Google has clarified that they will rank helpful content, irrespective of how it is produced. So, as long as you make your content helpful and unique, you are good to go.
Final Remarks
This case study proves a few things:
- Jasper AI’s content can 100% be detected by AI detectors, at least the paid ones like Originality.ai.
- Using Quillbot on AI content doesn’t make it bypass AI detection.
- Originality.ai’s AI detector is absolutely brutal and ruthless. It’s the leader in the industry among AI detectors, even more accurate than OpenAI’s own AI text classifier.
However, it is also worthwhile to point out here that this text was detected because the final outputs were completely untouched by a human hand. Had I edited a few sentences or jumbled a few words here and there, the AI scores wouldn’t have been as high as they were.
In a realistic scenario, no AI output should be treated as a finished piece of product. AI is only good at producing overly broad and generic ideas.
AI output is great for getting your first draft ready as soon as possible so that you don’t have to stare at a blank page.
FAQs
Is Jasper AI safe to use?
Jasper is safe to use as long as you edit the AI output and insert some unique info that is useful to the reader.
Think of it like this: if you can publish an AI piece as is, without editing or personalizing it, anyone else can too, so how’s your content different than the rest?
Can Jasper ai be detected?
Jasper AI’s output can certainly be detected by any worthy AI detector.
Can Jasper + Quillbot be detected?
Yes, they can certainly be detected by Originality.ai, as we saw in the case study above.
Can Jasper AI be detected by Turnitin?
Turnitin has said on their FAQs page that their tool can detect AI writing and it currently works on GPT-3 and onwards. Given that Turnitin caters mostly to universities and academic circles, their tool must be robust enough. However, I am yet to find any case study regarding this.
Can Jasper AI be detected for free?
There are several free AI detection tools available online (such as Writer.com, GPTZero, and ZeroGPT) but I have found that they are not as accurate as Originality.ai.
